Weston Middle School
Topic - How do we teach a skill-based lesson e.g. ordering rational numbers or adding unlike fractions in a heterogeneous classroom where we need to provide for students who cannot perform a skill vs students who are already fluent.
In Grade 6, students did a review of a Grade 5 skill.
How are advanced learners provided for in this lesson.
In this school the middle school teachers get the answers by observing four sessions with grade six and grade seven lessons with three discussion sessions.

Learning Session 1 - Economic implications of not teaching well and research that suggest what we can do as Teachers. We use the case study of quadratic expressions.
Learning Session 2 - Algebraic word problems is used as a case study.
Learning Session 3 - Conruent Triangles is sued as a case study.
We end the day by looking at differentiated practice in the case of statistics.
