Scarsdale Teachers Institute (STI) Course in New York

Discussing how to discuss an anchor task.
Main methods include repeated addition,
skip-counting as well as finding partial products
and compensation strategies.



One strategy is to cut up a word problem and have students rearrange the word and numbers to form possible stories. This is a story created by one of the groups. We used bar models to discuss the solution.
